Capitalism can affect you even after you've died. This skeleton has a rather beautiful green tinge. She died sometime between 1350-1400, aged 25-36. Although the body bore no signs of trauma or disease, its presence in one of the "catastrophe" burial sites that sprang up in response to the plague, suggest her end was not a natural one.

So why is she the colour of money? Well, literally that is the reason. The site later became the Royal Mint, and the copper waste from the manufacture of coins has stained her head and neck.

It just shows the reach of global capitalism!
