At Death Cafes people come together in a relaxed and safe setting to discuss death, drink tea and eat delicious cake.

We share an interest and ease in the topics of death and dying. We hope to provide an informal, safe, friendly, non-judgmental place in Santa Barbara for people to talk and listen to one another.

Lynn Holzman is a registered nurse working in hospice. She is also active in the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Southern California. Lynn doesn't like one single thing about death and dying but finds herself fascinated by it nonetheless.

Martha Sadler has worked in the fields of journalism and education, and is currently an editor at the Santa Barbara Independent. In her spare time, she enjoys planning her own memorial celebration and putting her affairs in order so that she will be ready to go in peace when the time comes – whenever it comes.
