The objective of Death Café is “To increase awareness of death with a view
to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives. The intention is
to provide a safe and nurturing environment for those who would like to share
their thoughts and feelings about death free from any particular ideology or
conclusions about life, death, or the afterlife. Possible topics for discussion
include, but are not limited to: feelings about death; the physiology of death;
the philosophy of death; spiritual aspects of death. Everyone is welcome
regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, religion or faith, or ethnicity.
The facility is wheelchair accessible. Facilitated by Rami Shapiro and Shirley
Bowman (see brief bios below).
A suggested donation of $10 per session or $25 for all three sessions is requested. This is for expenses including maintenance costs for the building we use as well as the cost of dessert and beverages.

Rami Shapiro is an award winning
author of over two dozen books on religion and spirituality. Ramus received
rabbinical ordination from the Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of
Religion, and holds a PH.D. from Union Graduate School. A congregational rabbi
for 20 years, Rabbi Rami currently co–directs One River Wisdom School (oneriverwisdomschool.com),
blogs at rabbirami.blogspot.com, writes a
regular column for Spirituality and Health magazine called Roadside
Assistance for the Spiritual Traveler, and hosts the weekly Internet radio
show, How to be a Holy Rascal on Unity On-line Radio (www.unity.fm/program/howtobeaholyrascal).
His newest book, Perennial Wisdom for the Spiritually Independent (SkyLight

Shirley Bowman is the Minister at Unity of
Murfreesboro (www.unitychurchoflife.com).
She received her ordination from Unity Worldwide Ministries. Prior to attending
Unity Institute and Seminary, she served for thirty years as a Registered
Nurse. Her nursing career included several years of experience in dealing with
