Write up of Death Cafe in New York with Rev. Jef Gamblée and Michelle Carter

By Pastor Jef Gamblee

Two Death Cafes were held in Mohegan Lake, NY on May 28 at the Fourth Unitarian Society of Westchester, facilitated by Pastor Jef Gamblee and Funeral Director Michelle Carter.

These were the third and fourth DCs held at the Society. As was the case for the first two, one was held at noon and the other at 6:30 to accommodate work schedules as well as respect those who do not like to drive at night.

Attendance for the two recent DCs was about 15% of the congregation’s membership. Those in attendance were highly engaged in the discussion and continued on after the meeting was officially ended.

We’ll add these two gatherings to the win column.
